What this measures

Demand on Great Britain’s transmission system, including transmission losses. Embedded generation is not added. Station transformer demand, pumped-storage pumping and interconnector demand are excluded.

Great Britain covers England, Scotland and Wales. These readings do not include Northern Ireland.

Periods and gaps

Each value is a half-hour average, not an instantaneous reading. Missing intervals remain unknown; they are not zero and are not joined across on the chart. All times are shown in UTC.

Summary values

The high and low are the highest and lowest observed readings in the displayed range, not daily records. Missing readings can change those comparisons. The change card needs two adjacent half-hour readings with the same measurement basis.

Readings may be revised. Older readings remain visible with their period and status.
