What you can find here
The site explains power station locations, types of generation and installed capacity. The station map uses the government catalogue of major power producers. It does not cover every generating site or show live output.
Coverage
The first area covered is Great Britain: England, Scotland and Wales. Northern Ireland is part of a different electricity system and is not included in these figures.
Understanding the numbers
A power station’s installed capacity tells you how much it can produce, not how much it is producing now. Our guide to the data explains this distinction and how to read dates and missing values.
